  • A Journey into the Multifaceted World of Mark Ricci

He's Ready for a Breakout Year In the ever-evolving landscape of the entertainment industry, Mark Ricci embodies the spirit of versatility. Born and raised in Toronto, his journey into acting and content creation wasn't just sparked by his environment; it was a passion destined to thrive anywhere in the world. INTERVIEW BY ANGEL NEAL COPY EDITOR JOSHUA PANDY Cover Design Elizabeth Helmich Dive into the mind of Ricci as he shares his experiences, aspirations, and why the next generation of entertainers should embrace the power of being multi-hyphenates. Toronto Roots and Hollywood Dreams Toronto, a burgeoning hub of film production, became both a backdrop and catalyst for Ricci's career. Contrary to initial reservations about breaking into Hollywood as a Canadian, Ricci realized the advantages of being born in one of Canada's major production cities. Reflecting on this, he notes, "I could've been born in Saskatchewan! Toronto has been slowly ballooning for a long time, and 2022 was the biggest year yet for money spent on productions." DNG: In an industry saturated with so much competition, how do you stay uplifted, motivated and even inspired to push through and maintain your happiness while still cultivating necessary relationships? Mark: The competition is actually motivating to me. I channel the frustration into working harder. And enjoying the fruits of my labor is what will bring me happiness. If I don't try, I won't be happy. Short term pain for long term gain. And the networking thing is an exciting part of it to me. I love meeting other creatives and artists and brainstorming collaborations. From Fan Films to Prime Time: The Power of Storytelling His early cinematic memory, "Stuart Little Two," sparked a transformative love for storytelling. "I still remember walking up to the theatre with my dad and seeing the big poster at four years old," he reminisces. This passion translated into working as a producer apart of Six Side Studios, a YouTube channel that birthed popular Spider-Man fan films, garnering over 100 million views. He cherishes the connection with his audience, even as it evolves, and acknowledges the valuable experience gained through wearing multiple hats – acting, writing, directing, and producing. DNG: SpiderMan fans are so diehard. You worked alongside YouTube channel, Six Side Studios, and contributed to producing the Spider-Man fan film series which garnered over 100M views. You got to dabble in acting, writing, directing and producing. What was the most rewarding part about working on this project? Mark: The most rewarding part is getting to hear that our audience grew up with our fan films, whatever that means. It's honestly so trippy to hear that, and I take it with a grain of salt. I chalk it up to people trying to flatter us. The audience of those movies 8 years ago were pre-teens and younger and now they're young adults and older. And I'm doing the same thing again with my own channel. It's a whole new audience. Six Side hasn't made a new movie since 2018 so it will be interesting to see the reception from our older fans who might not have kept up with my new Movie Man Mark videos. The Thrill of Multi-Hyphenation: Finding Freedom in Exploration In the era of multi-hyphenated talents, Mark embraces the disruption caused by social media. "I get to make what I'd like to see as a consumer," he says. His ability to wear different hats has paved the way for more significant projects. Acting offers a focused experience, allowing him to "dial in and focus on one thing: playing make-believe." From YouTube to Prime: "Gen V" and the Superhero Playground Ricci's journey recently led him to Amazon Prime's "Gen V," a series based on Volume 4 of "The Boys," a dream come true for a superhero genre enthusiast. Describing the moment he got the role, he shares, "I felt like it was years of hard work and synchronicities paying off." Landing the role was a surreal dream come true, a testament to his dedication and the perfect blend of action, comedy, and the superhero genre he's always adored. The Stallone Inspiration Sylvester Stallone serves as a beacon of inspiration for Ricci. Stallone's story of creating "Rocky" resonated deeply, affirming that individuals can shape their path in the industry. Ricci emphasizes Stallone's impact, stating, "He proved that I wasn't completely insane, that this was possible." This belief empowers Ricci as he embarks on his own creative journey. Beyond Entertainment: The Responsibility of True Crime Having participated in shows like "Web of Lies," "Fear Thy Neighbor," and "If I Should Die," he delves into the complexities of true-crime storytelling. While acknowledging the entertainment value, he emphasizes the responsibility it carries. Bringing awareness to real-life tragedies and their impact is a significant aspect of these projects, and he hopes they resonate with viewers, particularly younger audiences. The Next Generation of Entertainers He encourages the next generation of entertainers to explore the vast possibilities of being multi-talented. Platforms like YouTube and TikTok empower creators to bypass traditional gatekeepers and find their own audiences. He emphasizes the joy of the creative process, comparing it to finding the perfect canvas to express oneself. "We're all just trying to find a canvas to paint on, and the internet is a massive canvas for us artists," he affirms. Looking Forward: Grateful, Never Satisfied As Mark continues to create the life he envisions, he lives by the mantra, "Grateful, never satisfied." Mastering one skill at a time, he plans to dive into pitching an original film after completing post-production on "Final Swing." Nervous yet excited, Ricci is ready for the next chapter of his multifaceted journey. Personality Peeking: Quick Takes with Ricci Favorite "The Boys" character: Homelander, the captivating villain. Recent binge-watch: "The Fall of the House of Usher" Guilty pleasure movie: "17 Again" (admittedly watched way too many times!) Dream leading lady: Yvette Monreal and Auli'i Cravalho, both admired for their talent and charisma. Favorite superhero/villain: Spider-Man and The Joker, classic choices with enduring appeal. Ricci is more than just an actor; he's a storyteller, a creator, and an inspiration. His journey, fueled by passion, perseverance, and a willingness to explore, serves as a powerful reminder that anything is possible when you believe in yourself and embrace the limitless potential of creativity. • Christian Cowan Fall 2024 collection ready to wear: homage to his beloved parents

Written by Jacquelina Martinez Photograph Credit: Vogue This year's fall collection that was presented by Christian Cowan paid an homage to his beloved parents by incorporating his favorite things about astrology from his father and old money aesthetic from his mother. Photograph Credit: Vogue As the usual party girl pieces Christian Cowan presents on the runway, he put a bit of a twist on it this year. According to Flaunt they stated that Christian Cowan “remembers his late father reciting his favorite quote from Plato: Astronomy compels the soul to look upwards and leads us from this world to another.” The way Christian Cowan can transport us from one world to the next by incorporating astrology in fashion is fascinating to say the least. Some of his pieces highlight stars on the trims of skirts and dresses, they were also used as a top piece for some dresses. These stars were used out of recycled material. Christian Cowan told Vogue that “These are women that run their shit, they remind me of my mom, Mercedes—she’s an icon.” Christian Cowan was inspired by his mom’s uptown women aesthetic for his fall 2024 collection but with his own skimpy twist. It is lovely to see how a designer can include the most important things in their life in their amazing designs for all of us to see.

  • Sexy, Bold, and Beautiful

Written by Jacquelina Martinez Photograph Credit: Fashionista The Brazilian brand, PatBo, did not disappoint this year on the runway. Their sexy, bold, and beautiful cutout pieces captivated the features of the modern women. Fashion times has described this year’s PatBo’s fall collection as a “modern interpretation of old school glamour” and we are here for all of it. Their white going-out dresses were the most captivating and fascinating to see. The way they were able to make cut outs in the dresses that accentuated the boldness of the women’s body was very intriguing to see. Photograph Credit: Fashionista PatBo signature evening wear included cascading gowns and sheer panels with just a dash of subtle sensuality. Designer of PatBo Patricia Bonaldi told Fashionista “This collection is a tribute to all women that work with me and inspire me [such as] my artisans [and] every woman that I am inspired by. It is about women, made by women for women.” PatBo’s mantra certainly was displayed on stage this week for their 2024 fall collection. PatBo's Fall 2024 collection leaves us wanting more. Its a tantalizing glimpse into Bonaldis creative vision, hinting at the evolution of "old-school glamour" for the modern women. Will she continue to push boundaries? Will this collection inspire other designers to redefine classic aesthetics? One things for sure: PatBo's runway show has sparked a conversation, and were eager to see where the dialogue leads.

  • Minimalist Fashion Maximum Impact

Written by Jacquelina Martinez Photograph Credit: Vogue Red once again dominated the runway, fashion brand Alice and Olivia took no time to showcase their sparkling personality through their bold yet sophisticated pieces. One of the boldest designs they displayed jumbo bows, clouds, and roses which was inspired by Tom Wesselman’s work. This year Alice and Olivia collaborated with the Tom Wesselman estate. The founder of Alice and Olivia, Stacey Bendet, did not only reference Wesselman’s art in their fall collection but also in front of the Alice and Olivia headquarters there were 3D sculptures alongside the street and, they provided their guest audience with oversized sunglasses to enhance the experience of their collab with Wesselman’s estate. Photograph Credit: Vogue It could not be a fall collection without the iconic tweed jackets and Alice and Olivia did not disappoint us this year with the amazing tweed trim jacket matching sets. They also did not stop there, they even highlighted minidresses and gown dresses. Photograph Credit: Vogue They even did something out of the ordinary for them that worked so well for them by using a new jersey like fabric to hug more of the silhouette of the body type. We cannot wait to see more from Alice and Olivia and hope to see them continue to add new and different varieties to their collections like they did this year.

  • Unique or Chic?

Written by Jacquelina Martinez Photograph Credit: Vogue Have you ever wondered what “wonderfully weird” or “strange but cool” looks like? Well, Libertine can surely help you there. Their out-of-the-ordinary pieces were a runway sensation. This quirky yet luxury unique clothing brand was launched in 2001 by Johnson Hartig with Cindy Greene, who has since left the company in 2009. Libertine is based in Los Angles, California, and are changing the norms of what we consider as “high fashion.” In his early days, Johnson upcycled certain pieces of clothing found at thrift stores by silk-screening and adding a quirky yet unique flair to them. Some of his unique motifs display a surrealist eye or even portraits of Queen Elizabeth. This year was no different from his fall 2024 collection displayed this year at New York Fashion week. It showcased diverse silhouettes and distinctive motifs, embodying the designer's rule-breaking philosophy. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the clothing line's runway debut. His colorful and quirky patchwork were not only displayed on his pieces, and even the audience wore their own Libertine inspired designs of “do it yourself patchwork” pieces. Libertine didn't just feature diverse historical references, but also incorporated the designer’s personal obsessions as if his own personal diary of ideas came to life. In most of the pieces, each model wore funky glasses with their looks. These sunglasses were for sure a showstopper and can’t wait to see these accessories off the runway and into our everyday looks. Have you ever thought to put a silhouette of your dog on a piece of clothing? Well, Hartig undeniably thought it and did it. The models wore fuzzy shoes and colorful fuzzy wigs to match. During this year’s fall collection of Libertine, he displayed his own staff's personal belongings and his own pet dogs on his pieces, making it more personal not only to him but to his brand and staff. Photograph Credit: Vogue A peculiar take on the British rebellion, 70’s punk, Hartig incorporated bondage straps onto suits adorned with lines from the 1816 poem; Darkness; by Lord Byron which he printed onto black and ivory fabrics with some bold words like “eternal” and “darkness”. Hartig is well known for gathering and collecting and displaying these his signature elements into his designs and it was displayed on every piece during this year’s fashion week. He surely takes the concept of maximalism as his own. This collection undoubtedly inspires you to start collecting and patch-working your own clothes inspired by Hartig.

  • Aliyah Turner Brings Charisma to The Power Universe in Power Book III: Raising Kanan

+ just like her character, Krystal she is a woman defined by drive. Meet Aliyah Turner, she is widely recognized as the new comer to the cult classic show Power Book III: Raising Kanan. Turner has taken a unique journey from competitive dancing to modeling and musical theater. In this exclusive interview, we delve into her inspiring story, highlighting the struggles, perseverance, and advice she shares for aspiring actors. Photographer: Jana Schuessler Interview: Angel Neal Written Edit: Joshua Pandy Cover Design: Ziara Ravenell Aliyah's acting journey began at the age of seven when she stumbled upon the neighborhood youth theatre. Her first role as the baby elephant in "The Jungle Book" ignited a passion for singing, dancing, and acting on stage. Reflecting on those early moments, Aliyah emphasizes the importance of trying new things and embracing what brings joy. Growing up in a family that cherished movie nights, Aliyah draws inspiration from the cinema. One film that left a lasting impact on her was "Hairspray." The combination of singing, dancing, and acting on screen fascinated her, setting the stage for her diverse artistic pursuits. Do you remember your first cinema memory, or a show that sparked your interest into pursuing acting? Something special that resonated with you? I get inspired a lot. I grew up going to the movies with my family. I've always loved the movie HairSpray, with Queen Latifah. A production that required major singing and dancing as well as acting on cinema, which to me brings a whole sifferent level to the entertainment experience. It's like another level of life. And as far back as I can remember, that's a film that really excited me. The decision to pursue acting as a career solidified during Aliyah's involvement in "Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G." Working on a professional television set opened her eyes to the collaborative nature of the industry, fueling her passion further. Having explored plays, musicals, and short films, Aliyah acknowledges the distinct challenges each medium presents. Theater, with its live, unpredictable nature, contrasts with the meticulous and retake-friendly world of film. Despite the differences, Aliyah finds fulfillment in both, with a current preference for the rewarding atmosphere of television sets. Portraying Krystal, the fierce and relentless queen bee from the Bronx in "Raising Kanan," has been a transformative experience for Aliyah. Drawing from her dance background and personal fierceness, she brings authenticity to the role, emphasizing Krystal's tenacity in pursuing her goals. How did you prepare for the role of Krystal? And what was it like tapping into that character? She's a bit of a diva. I personally grew up in competitive dance and theater, and sometimes I would come across diva behavior. I would say after years of being in those environments, I was able to pull from those experiences to tap into character. I wanted to be the most fierce version of her; yes she has an attitude. But really, at the end of the day, she just wants to win. And that's something that I could definitely relate to, especially after auditioning for so many years and trying to make it work in this industry. So bringing that kind of tenacity to the role. As well, as musical prep, listening to artist like Beyonce' and Megan the stallion on set days. I made a quick playlist for Krystal, which I really loved to listen to, which helped get me in the zone. Everyone sees her as this mean girl, but no one's mean for no reason. So just kind of diving into what makes her the way that she is has been fun to explore. I wanted to be able to give truth to the way she acts and behaves towards people. While Aliyah admits she's not a natural fashion expert, embodying Krystal's diva behavior has been a fun challenge. Krystal's fire wardrobe adds another layer to the character, and Aliyah appreciates the opportunity to play a character who combines singing, dancing, and acting on screen. Diversity in the entertainment industry, it's such a big topic and in your own words, can you share with our readers why you think it's important to have diversity represented in film and television? Well, I mean, everybody, I think, can relate more when they see someone who looks like them on their screen, and are watching stories that kind of resemble what they've been through on their screens. I just think it's very outlandish and a little bit outdated to not have a cast of diversity these days, I think that there's so many different people in the world, walks of life. That's what makes humanity so beautiful, the differences between everyone. So to bring representation to cinema and TV, I think it's beautiful. In a industry with so much competition, how do you stay uplifted, motivated, and even inspired, to continue to push through and maintain your happiness while cultivating necessary relationships? There's been so many 'no's and so many 'maybe's. I had to just come to the point where I understood that a no can be a blessing. Maybe you really aren't ready, no matter what you think, how perfect, you might think you are for a role, that role could belong to someone else. This is the business, and I'm ok with waiting for my turn and what's meant for me. Because there is something there for you. You just have to be patient for it is, is what I've learned. I really do believe regardless of the competition, there's space for everyone who's really ready to put in the work and is passionate about the craft. Now, let's peek behind the curtain. Aliyah shares how her faith plays a role, emphasizing its importance in her journey. "that’s the reason why I’m here and that’s the reason why I’m even able to do what I’m doing—is because God’s allowed me to." Aliyah stresses the significance of being rooted in her faith in navigating the unpredictable entertainment industry. You're heavy into philanthropy and giving back. We heard that you set aside a portion of your pay to donate to a cause of your choice each year. What sparked the interest to do that? I grew up in church, I'm Christian. I'm very involved in my faith. And I feel like that's the reason why I'm here and that's the reason why I'm even able to to do what I'm doing is because God's allowed me to. So it's important, blessings are supposed to start with you, they're supposed to flow through you. So that's just kind of how you know I live. To who, much is given, much be be required (Luke 12:48). So it's, it's just what needs to be done in my opinion. So for many to get to where they want to be they have to be comfortable and where they are now. For you is self love a practice, a destination or something else in its entirety? Self Love is alive, always. It's never stopping. It's like, you can't practice it in one season, and then forget it in the next. I feel like it's something that should be a part of you. From the beginning to the end. Just to nourish yourself to make sure you're taking care of yourself, showing up as your best self. You can't do anything for anyone else, if you're not cool. So remember to put yourself first. Aliyah Turner's journey from a dance studio to the Power universe exemplifies the power of perseverance and staying true to oneself. Her insights into the industry, coupled with her dedication to inspiring others, make her a beacon for aspiring actors, she reiterates “Blessings aren’t supposed to stop with you, they’re supposed to flow through you”. As we anticipate her upcoming projects in 2024, Aliyah's story serves as a reminder to dream big, embrace challenges, and never give up on your passions. And be sure to follow Aliyah on her journey – you never know what incredible things she might achieve next! THOUGHTS ON On Using Her Influence "I Want to use my influence to inspire actors who have been in the game for a while and need that motivation to keep going. If I can help someone else's journey and make an impact on someone else's life, then that really is the reason why I'm doing what I'm doing. With my art, I want to be a help to make the world better. And use my influence to inspire the stories that need to be told and represented. Shinning a light on misrepresented communities and people are very important to me." On Prayer "Everyday. Prayer is my way of seeking alignment in my life, you know, with God. Prayer is what keeps me, it opens the way of communication. I think prayer is also something that can be done everywhere. You can pray in the shower, you can pray before you eat, you can pray walking down the sidewalk, it's not something that has to be, you know, so structured." On Learning To Listen To Her Intuition "So important. I'm not gullible, but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt a lot of the time. And I'm learning that sometimes, you know, when people are showing you who they are it's okay to believe them." On Success "Success takes time and doesn't happen overnight. You've got to protect it, you know, there's always going to be people who come for it, who want to tear it down and speak negatively over it. So it's something that you definitely have to actively defend and preserve." On Something We All Know But Bears Repeating "I'm gonna say practice makes perfect. Don't give up. Keep pounding the pavement. Repetition is your best friend. Dedication is your greatest weapon." Advice for the next generation of rising actors? "Go for it, do whatever it takes. Continue to dream big. Because you literally can do anything, you really can." Where can we follow you? You can find me on all platforms @_aliyahturner . Looking ahead, Aliyah expresses a love for comedy and a keen interest in exploring psychological thrillers and mysteries. She emphasizes the importance of diversity in film and television, believing that representation matters and enhances the richness of storytelling. Listen to the Raising Kanan Season 3 Series Sountrack Here , featuring songs by Butta, featuring Aliyah's character, Krystal.

  • Eckhaus Latta F/W 2024 Flips Minimalism on Its Head

By: Jackson Collins Since Eckhaus Latta's conception 13 years ago, designers Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta have always created stand out, "APOCALYPSE CHIC" style pieces. This season sees them dialing that down and using a more minimalist approach, but still incorporates the unique elements that make the brand so fresh. "Quiet luxury is a term that's used a lot - and that's not what we are - but I like this idea of streamlining things back towards an idea of minimalism, which for us was just more about, 'How do we make clothes and work that is concise?'" Eckhaus told Vogue. In the spirit of that elevated simplicity, the runway took place in an empty industrial office space in Hudson Square, with its models sporting purposefully unremarkable hairstyles and little makeup apart from graphic red eyeliner. Singer Loren Kramar opened the show with a cover of Lana Del Rey's "hope is a dangerous thing for a woman like me to have - but I have it." The song is a melancholic, stripped-down piano ballad that perfectly set the tone for the show to follow. Eckhaus Latta's defining characteristics are its uses of unconventional materials and sex appeal, which this collection doesn't stray from. Some of the jackets are made of laminated felt, yet they look like they could be suede or even leather. The structured material makes a beautiful contrast with some of the looks' loose, sexy mesh fabrics. The collection also prominently features fur and knitwear, quintessential elements for the fall season. In recent seasons, the designer duo opted to combine their Fall/Winter and Spring/Summer shows with their pre-collections. While it was done for practical reasons, it also heightens excitement for each coming runway because consumers must wait even longer for them. The wait was more than rewarding.

  • Lights, Camera, Action! Thom Browne's Theatrical Showcase at New York Fashion Week Fall 2024

By: Diamond Johnson After a season away, Thom Browne made a dramatic return to New York Fashion Week, reclaiming the closing spot with his signature theatrical flair. Returning to the Shed in Hudson Yards, the same venue where he last mesmerized audiences with his reinterpretation of The Little Prince, Browne drew inspiration from Edgar Allan Poe's haunting 1845 poem, The Raven. In a snowy yard, a bare-limbed tree donned a massive Thom Browne puffer coat and stood guard while a model animated its branches. A lit window with a broken pane served as the backdrop for the other models as they emerged. Browne's fashion shows are not just about displaying his latest collection; they are about creating a breathtaking theatrical experience. Photograph Credit: Vogue During a showroom visit before his show, Browne was asked if he was tormented like The Raven's protagonist; he laughed it off. "I grew up loving Edgar Allan Poe," he told Vogue," and also, I do always like for people to see that I'm an American designer." Carrie Coon's narration in The Gilded Age breathed life into Bertha Russell's character in a way that had not been seen in previous outings by Browne. Her delivery of a poignant poem added a level of drama and intensity that kept audiences on the edge of their seats. Coon's masterful execution of the delivery, ranging from calm to agitated, ultimately ending in full-blown hysteria, was nothing short of brilliant. Photograph Credit: Vogue The models at the show confidently rocked their crazy, unconventional hairstyles that perfectly matched the Edgar Allen-Poe-inspired theme. Furthermore, some models sported Raven-like net headpieces and fierce black talon-shaped nails, adding an extra touch of confidence to their already stunning looks. Photograph Credit: Vogue The Final Act! Browne's show was an absolute masterpiece of artistic creativity and storytelling. During the final portion of his show, he brilliantly accompanied the ravens with bugs, which were represented by oversized balloon coats resembling an insect's body. The bugs (models) were dressed in formal tailoring inspired by the 1910s illustrations of Georges Goursat, aka Sem, and were segmented horizontally. Some bugs (models) were more sculptural, with their top layers peeling off the shoulders, as if in the process of molting, which added an astonishing visual effect to the show. Browne was ecstatic and bursting with pride over his stunning theatrical runway, and he cannot wait to keep pushing the boundaries and creating even more groundbreaking work. • Bibhu Mohapatra's Elegant Evening at New York Fashion Week Fall 2024

By: Diamond Johnson Renowned fashion designer Bibhu Mohapatra unveiled his latest collection at the luxurious Pierre Hotel, known for its affluent setting that perfectly complemented the designer's elaborate occasion wear. The runway was adorned with a line of intricate and breathtaking ensembles, each a masterpiece of elegance and modernity. Mohapatra focused on simple colors such as dark green, grey, black, blue, and satin white. Each outfit displayed unique details, such as embroidery and unique fabric lining that made them stand out. The show left an indelible impression on fashion enthusiasts, who were awe-inspired by Mohapatra's exceptional creativity and artistry. Photograph Credit: Vogue The runway was a sight to behold as a breathtaking array of maxi dresses graced it. The models showcased a wide variety of designs, ranging from flowy to more structured looks. Amongst the sea of colors, green stood out as the most striking and eye-catching. The shades of green varied from deep forest green to emerald green, each adding a unique touch of vibrancy to the dresses. The maxi dresses themselves were crafted from high-quality fabrics and featured intricate detailing, such as multiple layered outfits, bold accessories, and embroidery. Photograph Credit: Vogue The runway featured a stunning collection of impeccably crafted suits, dresses, and coats, all adorned in rich, blue fabric. The attention to detail in each piece was truly remarkable, with intricate stitching and exquisite embellishments that spoke to a true mastery of the craft. Photograph Credit: Vogue The runway show was a stunning showcase of the versatility and captivating designs of skirts, all in maxi lengths. The flowing maxi skirts made from luxurious fabrics were one of the show's highlights, adding a sense of drama and sophistication. The innovative cuts and detailing, such as asymmetrical hemlines and unexpected pleating, brought a modern twist to the classic styles, making it an unforgettable event that left a lasting impression. Photograph Credit: Vogue Go Big or Go Home. The runway featured a display of avant-garde pieces that seeped confidence and boldness. These pieces were characterized by standout elements such as broadcloth draping over the shoulders, sheer fabrics, and dramatic fabric layouts. Mohapatra referred to Helmut Newton's photographs of women from the late 1970s and 1980s.“There are always two things about his work: He made women powerful but also made them into objects,” he said to Vogue. “And he shot mostly white women, except for Grace Jones.” Upon realizing Newton's main focus was on "power, fetish, and flesh", Mohapatra wanted to do the opposite. He opted for a diverse range of models and modest displays of skin, using sheer insets to reveal subtle peeks of it—the collection aimed to empower women of multiple cultures and backgrounds and evoke self-assurance in its wearers.
