- Fashion Evolution - Comparing Time 100's Gala Trends Over the Years
Over the years, the Time 100 Gala has transformed into a runway of influence that showcases a bold declaration of cultural evolution. From the refined timeless tradition of black-tie classics to the daring designs that challenge conventions, each red carpet has honored their intended impact. It truly is a story of trends that speak louder, styles that push boundaries, and moments that redefine what it means to dress for power. Golden Beginnings of Glamour - Styles that Defined Early Years of the Time 100 Gala: When the Time 100 Gala first rolled out the carpet, the dress code was all about black-tie glamour that whispered sophistication but spoke volumes. Women floated in floor-sweeping gowns crafted from luxurious fabrics like silk and satin, dripping in diamonds or pearls that sparkled brighter than a paparazzi flash. Men, ever the debonair counterparts, stuck to razor-sharp tuxedos with bow ties so pristine you'd think they practiced tying them in their sleep. Hair was swept into polished updos or styled into effortless waves, while makeup favored "naturally flawless". The vibe was pure elegance, as if the guestlist has been curated for a 1950s fashion film. This era of refined style laid the groundwork for the fashion risks and boundary-breaking statements that would later dominate the gala. Classic, yes - but never boring! Bold Statements Worth Taking a Bow - The Mid-2010s Style Revolution: The mid-2010s brought a fashion revolution to the Time 100 Gala, where the red carpet traded its safe, classic elegance for bold risks and unapologetic statements. This was the era of electric hues, artful prints, and avant-garde silhouettes that turned heads all the way around. Asymmetrical hemlines, sculptural gowns, and daring gowns were paired with show-stealing accessories such as oversized jewelry to quirky clutches that started conversations. Gender norms blurred as women rocked power suits and men embraced fluid styles. This was the start of outfits carrying deeper messages, celebrating cultural heritage, sustainability, and even political stances. The gala's atmosphere crackled with energy, proving that fashion has just as much power as words. The mid-2010s was a kaleidoscope of bold moves and iconic moments. Bold, Inclusive, and Sustainable - The Late 2010s - early 2020s New Gala Fashion: The late 2010s to early 2020s proved that fashion at the Time 100 was not just about looking exceptional - it was about being exceptional. Designers wove inclusivity into every seam by celebrating diverse fashion statements. With cultural representation, inclusivity, gender fluidity and sustainability taking center stage, the red carpet became a manifesto for change. Attendees dazzled in eco-friendly gowns and reinvented vintage pieces, turning the spotlight into an ethically-beautiful fashion show without sacrificing style. Each outfit was a statement, a call to action, and a celebration of influence as a force for good. This was an era where fashion did not just sparkle; it sparked change for the good. Sculpted in Style - The Artistic Edge of Recent Gala Trends: In recent years, the Time 100 Gala has gone full Picasso-meets-Prada, turning the red carpet into a jaw-dropping art gallery where outfits do more than dazzle under the lights. Picture designs with sculptural silhouettes - with gowns crafted with ruffles, exaggerated shapes, and architectural precision that blur the line between couture and modern art. Painterly prints inspired by iconic movements like surrealism and abstract expression have adorned dresses, transforming attendees into walking canvases. Collaborations between designers and artists have featured mixed media elements like metallic accents, feathers, and even LED lights for a futuristic edge. With every look, the 2025 gala celebrated the intersection of fashion, art, and influence - solidifying its place as a red carpet where creativity knows no bounds. We have seen elegance take risks, inclusivity break barriers, and sustainability steal the spotlight. Fashion has pushed the boundaries of art and storytelling. Each era has added its own sparkle and swagger to the legacy - proving that fashion is a mirror of the world's changing pulse. If influence could strut, it would look the the Time 100 Gala.

This interplay between masculine precision and feminine expression not only subverts traditional gender norms - it proves that style is, above all, a form of self-expression. Dandyism Defined - The Rise of Dandyism in Womenswear: What was once reserved for men who sought to elevate fashion into a form of self-expression, has now inspired women to join in the game. Now that times have changed, women have taken this refined rebellion and made it their own. The beauty of this transformation lies in the balance by channeling the precision of menswear while infusing it with a distinctly feminine perspective. No longer confined to traditional beauty - modern womenswear embraces sharp silhouettes, structured lines, and rich textures of dandy style; weaved into a narrative of empowerment and authenticity. The elements of a well-cut blazer, a silk cravat, and a pair of polished brogues embrace a type of femininity that is not defined by gender. So, rewrite history by embracing the artistry of dressing well with an air of effortlessly chic. Not Just for Gentlemen - Why Dandyism is a Woman's Secret Weapon: This is fashion with a wink, style with swagger, and a homage to traditional dressing reinvented by forward-thinking women. Some go for the sleek, structured aesthetic, embodying suave precision, while others embrace the playful side of dandyism, layering textures and prints with a knowing smirk. So, picture sharply defined shoulders on blazers that exude power, high-waisted trousers that elongate the form, and waistcoats that sculpt a sleek, refined shape. Though, lines are crisp and deliberate, with clean, elongated cuts that emphasize poise and confidence - whether it's the sharp lapels of a tuxedo jacket, the tailored nip at the waist of a vest, or the perfect break of wide-legged trousers cascading elegantly over polished brogues. And, you have fabrics like soft velvet, draping the body in a soft yet structured richness, silk and satin that add a smooth, fluid feel to structured blazers and crisp waistcoats, while tweed and wool bring an air of timeless prestige to tailored outfits, and leather adds a sleek yet rebellious energy to belts and loafers. Remember ladies, that fashion isn't just about what you wear, it is about how you wear it. From Brummell to Westwood - The Minds Shaping Dandyism-Inspired Womenswear: Dandyism in womenswear wouldn't be where it is today without the visionaries who dared redefine elegance and rebellion. Yves Saint Laurent paved the way with his iconic Le Smoking Tuxedo - proving a statement of empowerment for women. While Vivienne Westwood injected historical dandy flair into modern fashion - blending corsetry, structured jackets, and audacious prints to create rebellious yet refined aesthetic. From classic tailoring to playful subversions, these designers have reshaped the conversation around womenswear that a well-cut suit can be the ultimate power move. - JALEEL KAMARA: SMALL STAR, BIG FORCE
At just 8 years old, Jahleel Kamara is already making serious waves in Hollywood. With a résumé that includes Disney+’s Rise , ABC’s Manifest , Sundance standout Nanny , and BET+’s B-Boy Blues , Jahleel’s latest role might be his most electrifying yet. The rising young star brings heart, humor, and heat to the screen in Shadow Force , the highly anticipated Lionsgate action-thriller starring Kerry Washington and Omar Sy. Words By Angel Neal, Disrupshion Magazine I had the pleasure of speaking with Jahleel, whose boundless energy and charisma are just as powerful off-screen as they are on it. In Shadow Force , he plays Kai, a boy with a deep love for music and an even deeper connection to family—especially to his mother, in a moving reunion scene that’s sure to tug at heartstrings. So how does a young actor balance comedic timing with emotional depth? For Jahleel, it’s all about focus. “I had to lock in,” he said. “Get in a quiet space, read every word, and tap into my inner side.” That commitment shows in every scene, from Kai’s hilarious Lionel Richie obsession to his unforgettable delivery of, “A band ain’t nothing to F with”—a moment that had the whole crew laughing. Though Jahleel doesn’t listen to Richie much in real life, he has a soft spot for the music thanks to a first-grade school performance. “I just remember my teacher saying it was one of his best songs,” he said with a smile. What makes Shadow Force even more special for Jahleel is its action-packed nature. “I never did an action movie before,” he shared. “I love me some action, let’s just say that.” Acting alongside powerhouses like Washington and Sy only pushed him to elevate his game. “They’re such powerful actors, and they’re really going to bring this movie up.” Born to Sierra Leonean heritage and acting since age 4, Jahleel credits his background and experiences for shaping his approach. “I’ve done comedy, thrillers, calm stuff—and now action,” he said. He’s also gotten to see the world through his work, filming in places like Colombia, Atlanta, and Greece. Despite the glitz, Jahleel remains grounded and incredibly self-aware for his age. When asked what he hopes people take away from his performance, he said, “Some people might just see me as funny, but I hope they see the other side too. The emotional side.” And that’s what makes Jahleel Kamara a force in his own right—one that’s not just here to entertain, but to leave a lasting mark. Disrupshion Magazine is proud to spotlight this bright young talent as he continues to rise. Keep your eyes on Jahleel—this is only the beginning. The film also stars Mark Strong; Da’Vine Joy Randolph; and Cliff “Method Man” Smith. “Shadow Force” hits theatres May 9.
- From Web Series to Podcast: How Situationships Creator Cylla Senii Turned Real-Life Dating Disasters into a Cultural Movement
Have you ever had a man who wasn’t your man, and you wanted to talk about it but didn’t know how because it felt weird or wrong to admit that you have feelings for your man who’s not your man? Sub in whatever gender preference, and almost all of us have been there—and Cylla Senii, tired of skirting around those uncomfortable topics, brought it to the public’s attention on multiple platforms. By : Kiara Hurst Photog: @adose.of.artes HMU: @justshupier Bouncing between Atlanta and New York in her early twenties, Senii and her friends found themselves swapping wild, hilarious, sometimes heartbreaking stories about modern dating. Ghosting. Being dumped over text. Boyfriends caught creeping on Craigslist. You name it, they lived it. It was the realization that she and all her friends were in situationships that gave birth to Situationships , the web series turned TV show. "We were always venting about how messy things were," she laughs. "At one point, I just thought, 'Yo, we're all literally in situationships. This could be a show.'" Situationships arrived during a time when an influx of Black women were rising to fill the noticeable gap in representation. Inspired by web series pioneers like Issa Rae and the creators behind Black & Sexy TV, Senii set out to build her vision from scratch. Juggling a nine-to-five in advertising while scribbling down story ideas during her daily commute, she eventually teamed up with her producing partners, Brandon and Iris, both fresh out of college themselves. "It was really just a lot of stumbling and figuring it out," she says. "We had no idea what we were doing, but we were determined." With her small crew and sheer perseverance, Senii set out to make Situationships a reality. Lacking resources, Senii had to take on many roles herself while pursuing her dream. But wearing all the hats—creator, writer, director, producer, actor—took a toll. It wasn't long before Senii realized she had to learn one of the most crucial skills for any creative: delegation. "I was right out of college leading a team of 50 people," she says. "Growing a team was necessary for me to not burn out—bringing on top producers, collaborating with other writers, hiring social media experts, marketing people—it was all part of learning how to actually lead a creative project." Senii's hustle is a sign of a broader shift in the entertainment industry. Traditional barriers to entry still exist, especially for women and people of color, but social media and digital platforms have paved new pathways. "If you're not born into the industry or connected, you have to create your own opportunities," she says. "You can literally create from the palm of your hand now. That's how I started—uploading to YouTube." Still, despite the proliferation of platforms, authenticity remains the true currency. Senii's work—whether comedic or gut-wrenchingly real—sits at the intersection of truth, culture, and humor. "So many of our stories as Black women, as creators of color, have historically been left out," she says. "It's important for me to be authentic and tell the stories that haven't been told." On the corporate side of the industry, she's seen how a focus on numbers and profit can strip projects of their realness. "Audiences today don't want smoke and mirrors. They want real," she explains. "That's why people are leaning more into creators." With that focus on authenticity, Senii also values connecting to her audience, which led, in 2024, to the launch of the Situationships podcast on Revolt TV. Beyond expanding the universe around Situationships , Senii says, “The podcast allows us to reach audiences directly and consistently—talking about dating, relationships, culture, and bringing in amazing experts.” With the Situationships TV series now in development it’s undeniable that Senii is on the path toward greatness. Senii's story is proof that success isn't just about talent or luck. It's about perseverance, community, and an unwavering commitment to authenticity. And as Situationships continues to evolve, one thing remains clear: this is just the beginning. "There are so many more stories to tell," she says, smiling. "And trust me—we're about to tell them all." To keep with all things Cylla follow her here @cyllasenii .

- From Viral Sensation to Filmmaking Visionary: Tony Talks
Tony Talks (Antonio Baldwin), the comedy content creator with millions of viral views, is taking his talent to the next level with the release of Boss Up: The Musical, his first-ever feature film. Boss Up tells the story of “fabulous and flawless” Cassandra, who, after being fired from her job, embarks on a journey of self-reinvention. The film is funny, poignant, and filled with music (and right now, it’s free to watch on Revry.tv !). Interview By: Claire Brown Photography by: Paris Steward Editor-In-Chief Angel Neal What prompted Tony to take on the challenge of writing, starring in, and funding a full-length film? “It was super, super crazy,” he admits, about making the jump from one-minute content to a 54-minute feature. “I’ve never written an entire movie before.” But after connecting with filmmakers at the Atlanta Film Festival, Tony had a vision for a musical starring Cassandra, one of the recurring characters he portrays on his social media channels. He assembled a team, poured his passion into the script, and brought his vision to life. Tony quickly realized that starring in and producing a long-form film was very different from his usual content creation style for social media. For one thing, it made him slow down. “I’m used to filming something the same day, editing it the next, and then posting it,” he explains. “With a movie, it’s completely different. You have to take your time.” Another difference between film production and content creation? Going from being a mostly solo operator to managing a large cast and crew. “I was managing so many different personalities while also playing the main character,” he says. “It was a learning experience, but I’m such a sponge – I loved it.” As a first-time filmmaker, Tony was intentional about casting actors he had worked with before. “The woman who plays my mom? She gave me one of my very first acting roles in Atlanta,” he shares. “So it was really full-circle to be able to hire her for my project years later.” Tony personally knew almost everyone in the cast and even wrote many of the roles with specific people in mind. “That made the casting process super easy,” he says. At its core, Boss Up: The Musical is about self-discovery. The story follows a powerful woman who loses her job title – an identity-defining role – and has to figure out who she is without it. “I relate to that,” Tony says. “As a content creator, that’s my title. And I didn’t know who I was without it.” He believes the film’s themes resonate universally. “So many people are walking around as their job occupations,” he says. “When we lose our jobs, it sends us spiraling, like, ‘Who am I now?’” While the story could have taken a dramatic turn, Tony stayed true to his comedic roots. “I wanted to tell it in a way that was funny, with music and jokes,” he explains. Despite not being a trained singer or dancer, Tony was drawn to the musical format. “I genuinely love musicals,” he says. “Music heals the world,” he adds. “If you can tell a message through music successfully, that’s powerful.” And Tony isn’t done with musicals just yet. “The next film I make is going to be a musical too,” he reveals. His advice for other content creators looking to transition into filmmaking? “Learn how to work in teams and don’t be afraid to wear the hats you need to wear.” Looking back, Tony says he would step more into his role as an executive producer. “I was a little shy,” he admits. “I didn’t want to boss anyone around, but in certain parts, I needed to.” He sees that experience as a valuable learning curve for future projects. While Boss Up: The Musical marks a bold new step in Tony Talks’ career, it’s clear this is just the beginning! To stay up with all things Tony Talks follow him here: @iamtonytalks !
