Sailor Moon + Jimmy Choo ~ A Sweet Sensational Pairing

No one is celebrating Sailor Moon's 30th birthday quite like Jimmy Choo. The luxury brand is collaborating with the anime series in a line that's been given the matinee-esq title "Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon".

The candy-colored series has given rise to a candy-colored line of shoes, all of which align with characters from a world that is known as shoujo anime or shojo manga. The shoes are assigned to specific characters: Sailor Mercury, Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Mars, Sailor Venus and Sailor Moon herself, the quintessential Pretty Guardian.

Helmed by creative director Sandra Choi, who, in a September issue of Vogue Scandinavia, remarked how fashion was feeling nostalgic for the '90s and early '00s, the shoes recall a giddy time of Y2K innocence when Britney crooned in red spandex and a Heart of the Ocean knockoff and Coyote Ugly told us all to wear lower than low jeans with pastel crop tops.

The shoes channel the show's array of personalities, giving wearers a chance to pick their favorite.

There are knee-high Barbie-pink boots studded with crystals for Sailor Moon, appletini-green lace-up boots with thick soles and high heels for Sailor Jupiter; glossy Cinderella-blue stiletto boots with the kind of heels last seen in Hustlers for Sailor Mercury, sequined platforms the color of orange creamsicles with a thick Mary Jane strap for Sailor Venus and lipstick-red patent pumps for Sailor Venus.

Set to be released worldwide on February 14, 2023, the fan clubs and fashionistas are already counting down and watching and re-watching the commercial that is reminiscent of She-Ra, Care Bears, Rainbow Brite and every other cartoon that makes millennials get mushy and sentimental.
