This year’s award season has been the most unpredictable in history, but the show must go on. The nominees for the 93rd Academy Awards were officially announced March 15th. With theaters being closed for the majority of last year, many films switched to online streaming services such as Netflix, Hulu, HBO, and more. This year’s nominee list shows an eclectic range of films from the days of Blues and “Dirty Thirties”. Wardrobe plays a huge role in the world of film making. They tell a character’s story and add magic by bringing the audience into the movie’s time period. Every detail of clothing is carefully considered in the eyes of a costume designer and the choices can be silently powerful.
